What’s Wrong With These Pictures?

I wanted to wait and write a Blah, Blah Blog about my progress with the memoir I have been working on since last October.  A piece that carries within its own share of absurdist characters and events.  But something more absurd than anything I could have imagined and outright more ridiculous and criminal than De Santis and Trump and the Far Right Fun and Horror House of Republican Representatives has taken my shortness of breath away.

On May 30th, 2023, Elizabeth Holmes of Theranos of fraud fame began an eleven year prison sentence on the same day that the Sackler family of Purdue Pharmaceuticals, the maker and pusher of the opioid Fentanyl that has addicted and killed millions of people all over the world, none more than in our United States, has won in the Federal Court of Appeals against being criminally prosecuted for their crimes against humanity, paying a gazillion dollars for that privilege, proving once again, money makes the world go around.

Poor, literally and figuratively, Elizabeth Holmes didn’t have enough money to buy her way out of prison.  The Sacklers did.

Bruce Springsteen had it right when he brilliantly wrote and sang, it pays to be Born in the USA.

That’s it, folks!  That’s all I am capable of reporting.

In reaction to this debacle of Justice, I am going to do something positive as an antidote to the negative.

I shall tear the weeds out of my garden to prevent them from choking my plants.  I shall throw away all signs of excess from my cluttered closets, proving that I’m capable of knowing the difference between need and greed.  And finally I shall take out the garbage as an attempt to cleanse my soul from the fall out toxicity of our failed justice system.

Where is Gilbert and Sullivan’s Lord High Executioner from The Mikado when you need him to sing… LET THE PUNISHMENT FIT THE CRIME??

Right???

Of course, right!!!

Love, Sally-Jane ❤️

P.S. I’m sorry if I ruined your day.  Maybe I can make it up to you by suggesting it’s time to watch the Marx Brothers in Duck Soup, again. The laugh will help me navigate through the dangerous currents as I ride the waves on this Ship of Fools…

Which brings to mind the stateroom scene in another Marx Brothers Opus, Night at the Opera.
